Reid was able to agree Decker to an agreement. Then, in August of 2009 Decker made her debut self-titled album under the name Jessie James. Jessie James achieved a reasonable level of success, with Wanted being able to make it into in the Top 40 charts. Decker has always been an "country" performer, but her latest album is produced and marketed in a way that appeals to the pop market. Decker fought with the label to get more control of her music following two previous singles fell. The album she released next, Boys in the Summer is more country-oriented. Decker's second album, announced as Daughter of a Gypsy and Sweet American Dreams by Mercury Records was shelved because Mercury noticed the weak performance of three of Decker's singles on country radio charts.
